Features Overview

Parent Advisory Committee

Parent involvement strengthens TSBC Childcare and our sense of community and we look forward to partnering with you in the growth and development of your child.  Parents are invited to volunteer with our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC).  The purpose of the Parent Advisory Committee is to provide additional opportunities for communication between staff and parents, to give a voice to parental ideas and opinions, and to allow parents as much involvement in the life of the school as their time and schedules permit.
This Parent Advisory Board functions in much the same way as a school PTA, as a forum for planning and brainstorming ideas, as well as a volunteer organization for classroom projects and participating in holidays and special events.  Meetings are scheduled according to members’ schedules. In the past, our PAC has helped with field trips, book fairs, fundraisers, and other special events.

Sharing parent perspectives: Communicate concerns, ideas, and feedback from parents regarding curriculum, teaching methods, school policies, and overall student experience.

  • Supporting school initiatives:

Offer input and assistance on new programs, events, and initiatives designed to enhance student learning.

  • Advocating for student needs:

Identify areas where students may require additional support and advocate for necessary resources to address those needs.

  • Promoting parent engagement:

Encourage other parents to participate in school activities, volunteer opportunities, and stay informed about school happenings.

  • Collaborating with staff:

Work with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to develop solutions and implement improvements based on parent feedback.

  • Providing feedback on school policies:

Review and offer input on existing school policies to ensure they are aligned with the needs of students and families.

Important points to remember about parent advisory boards:

  • Advisory role:

While they provide valuable input, the final decision-making power usually rests with the school administration.

  • Representation:

Ideally, the board should reflect the diverse demographics of the school community.

  • Open communication:

Maintaining open communication channels between the board, school staff, and parents is crucial.
